  • The study of Asian classical theater begins in India, which is the source of most theater in Asia and which gave birth to some of its diverse arts such as dancing, music, and poetic drama. All Asia - what is now Sri Lanka (Ceylon), Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia (Malaya),  and Indonesia especially Bali - are extensions of her classical theater tradition because through history they have felt the impact of her cultural and religious influences and retained and adapted these influences along with their own native culture to create what is now characteristically their own theater art.
  •  The name 'India' is derived from the River Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu.
